So I have been struggling to put down words.. or rather to post anything I have written and then my friend Brett Fish Anderson inspired me to share some of my poems..not sure if all of them are micro enough but thought I would share nevertheless..
Death of a Viking’s son.
Odin said by law
All dead men should be burned,
Their belongings laid with them upon the pile,
Their ashes cast into the sea or buried in the earth.
The father weeps, for he knows that for all men of consequence a mound should be raised.
But his heart is weak, his hands too frail
To make a mound or standing stone.
Sanctimonious
Looking out the window
pious hands clasped together, I say out loud
“I didn’t ask for this” as a
Tiny tear falls onto my bony frame
That I quickly threw together in case company arrived.
Mother
You killed with kindness.
If only kindness had killed you.
One love.
I cannot end a fight without having the last word.
See.
Matriarch
You are the one.
The one who always knew
About self- preservation.
It cannot be taught. It can only be lived.
You. Irreverent, have coined a phrase.
Walk the walk. Walk and walk and work and do and work and do
Dodo doo doo doo do do
And your beat lives on.
Fossil
A lost tooth
A flurry of excitement
Early to bed.
An exchange, a lie, a night burglary,
An acknowledgement
For the little boy who was
And the man he will later become
And a little box filled with little human fossils.
(For the Tooth mouse to keep).
R.I.P
“Music has officially died”
Blasted Sinead
Over that “c” word without wrinkles
On the cover of Rolling stone.
Rolling stone murdered music.
Sorry Bob.
Tuxedo
Not everything is black and white
Except for piano keys
And penguins…
Penguins are cool.
Forever young
When I was young
I lay on freshly cut grass, saw pictures in clouds and picked dandelions
I believed blowing eyelashes made wishes.
I made so many wishes, sand got in my eyes
So I wished for more eyelashes.

Wow Wow Wow Buch-ahn – that is incredible stuff – three cheers for Original Dante [https://originaldante.wordpress.com] for inspiring me and for that then getting you going in the most Pay It Forward Poetry moment since Reginald Buttermangle handed Theodor Geisel his pen and pad and suggested he “give it a bit of a whirl”… Really loved most of these as in they were all really good but i LOVED a whole lot of them – tooth mouse and penguins jump to mind and of course the mum one… SO SO good, thank you for sharing…
And keep on
love brett fish
